ALYCE TRAN – THE DAILY EDITED

Four years ago, Alyce Tran was working as a corporate lawyer in Sydney. She didn’t love her job and spent much of her time using the office printer to make mood boards that inspired her – of fashion, beauty, art and design. Her co-workers often commented on her style, and because of this she decided to start a blog called ‘The Daily Edited’ – a daily edit of the things she loved. Fast forward to today, and The Daily Edited has transitioned from a blog to a globally recognised fashion brand, with annual revenue of over $30 million. In this episode of lady-brains we spoke with Alyce about the challenges she has experienced in building the now-biggest monogrammed accessories brand in the world, the stress and difficulty that comes from leading a team, and how, after selling a share of the business to Oroton, she was able to buy it back for $2.3 million profit.

My co-founder said to me, ‘do you want to launch a fashion brand?’, and I said, ‘that’s nuts!’ But we did it anyway.
