CLEO WADE – HEART TALK

Cleo Wade is the poet, artist, activist and author who has been dubbed ‘the voice of a generation’. After growing up in a highly segregated and racist area of New Orleans, Cleo moved to New York, skipping college and living out of a tiny apartment which doubled as her art studio. Things changed for Cleo in 2014, when she posted to Instagram for the first time with a simple poem. This subsequently went viral, providing her with a unique platform to speak her words of wisdom to a younger generation. Fast forward four years, and Cleo has now built a personal brand and cult following around the world. In this episode of lady-land we spoke with Cleo about how important knowing your purpose is in driving the work that you do, how learning to lean into discomfort has transformed her life and business, and how she feels to be labelled the ‘Millennial Oprah’.

THE BITS YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS

— On carving a new path as a young black girl in highly segregated America

— On how persistence and grit have led to where she is today
Vision without execution is delusion.”
— On the importance of being able to execute in life and in business
